Vacation planning on Travel With A Plan

Intro to Travel With A Plan

Travel With A Plan started after many of my family and friends would ask me for advice about how to plan a family vacation.

I had a reputation for doing research and making day-to-day plans that include the best things to see and do in an area, as well as what to pack, where to stay, and what to eat.

Combining my love for travel and my joy in writing, I decided to start putting our vacation experiences into the form of a family travel blog.

Today, Travel With A Plan exists to help break down the barriers that prevent families from traveling in order to make travel less stressful.

Along with sharing our exact day-to-day itineraries to the best US family vacation spots, I write about:

  1. What to pack
  2. How to get there
  3. How much time and money to budget for
  4. Things you should do and not miss
  5. Restaurants to try & best places to stay
  6. Tips we learned

After all, there are literally so many unexpected benefits of traveling with kids that can be easily overlooked if you’re running ragged while on vacation.

About Jen

With the kids getting older, my husband and I realize the years are dwindling before they will eventually leave the nest. Consequently, once they ditched the diapers, bottles, and naps, we kicked our family travel goals into high gear.

Along with my blogging business, I work full-time as a Licensed School Nurse at a K-2 school.

I absolutely love creating travel memories with my husband and our three sons, ages 11, 14, and 16 years old.

We do this by maximizing the time off during school breaks, as well as by budgeting for our dream vacations years in advance.

If you too are excited about the idea of traveling with your family or are maybe just considering it, you’ll feel right at home here!

I’ve got fun and practical ideas on where to travel, as well as what to do once there.

I only highlight trips that we have actually taken and feature itineraries that have worked!

Likewise, I will only recommend a product that I love. (Plus, my reviews are written with family conveniences in mind!)

Digging deeper…

Ever since I was young, traveling has been an integral part of my life.

Having grown up in a remote town in northern Minnesota, it was a three-hour drive to the nearest shopping mall, for instance.

We traveled every weekend during our short summers to spend time at our cabin and road-tripping during the long winters was essential to ward off cabin fever.

Now with a husband and children of my own, traveling together has become an indispensable part of our family routine, as well as a rich part of our family story.

The rejuvenation that we achieve together while traveling plays a huge part in how we stay happy and healthy at home. Further, the memories from our vacations stimulate our daily conversations and generate ideas for future travel.

As the travel planner of our family, I intentionally factor travel into our calendar and into our family budget. I plan for our trips months – even a year – in advance.

In order to maximize the fun, I love developing travel itineraries for the various cities that we visit. We achieve this by mapping out restaurants, sightseeing, and plenty of downtimes along the way.

I truly believe that our family of 5 maximizes the fun and gets the most ‘bang for our buck’ because we Travel With A Plan!

Not regret.
