Belle Meade is more than just a winery, it’s an experience!

Located just minutes from downtown Nashville, this historic site offers fun for the whole family (you heard that right, this is a winery that’s kid-friendly!).

While kids can’t join adults during wine or bourbon tastings, wine is only one small part of this location’s specialty!

Founded in 1807 by John Harding, Belle Meade (meaning “beautiful meadow”) is a plantation and historical site.

The site has over 32 acres and includes a winery, wine garden, games court, ice cream shop, restaurant, and several gift shops to explore.

You can purchase a grounds pass to take in the site or opt for a historic tour to learn more about the grounds’ long history. 

If wine IS the focus of your visit, however, you’re in luck too!

Celebrate over 200 years of history and winemaking in Belle Meade’s wine garden.

The Belle Meade winery offers complimentary wine tastings with the purchase of a grounds pass ($20 for adults).

Wine and food pairings, private tours, and private tastings are also available. 

Belle Meade even has live music on the weekends.

3. Grinder’s Switch Winery

2 locations: 1310 Clinton St #125, Nashville, TN (winery), and 2119 Hwy 50 West Loop, Centerville, TN (winery + vineyards)

The more accessible Grinder’s Switch Winery is located in the heart of Nashville in Marathon Village.

Though its location might suggest an upbeat, city-focused affair, Grinder’s Switch offers a different kind of experience. 

They offer daily tastings in a laid-back atmosphere at their 22-foot-long barn-wood bar.

Local treats and wine-themed gifts accompany tastings and highlight the best of the city.

Wine lovers will adore their specialty wine like their blackberry wine or fan favorite, honeysuckle rose wine.

You can even pre-order charcuterie boxes to enjoy alongside your tasting.

If you’re looking for a group experience, Grinder’s Switch offers firepit reservations for an entire afternoon.

These firepits mimic the total camping experience with chairs for six, a personal campfire, and even smores kits.

4. Arrington Vineyards and Winery

6211 Patton Rd, Arrington, TN

Located just 25 miles south of Nashville in nearby Arrington, TN, Arrington Vineyards and Winery is one of the largest wineries in the area with an impressive 95-acre property—16 of which are acres of vineyards to enjoy.

Try any of their twenty-two award-winning wines across five different tasting rooms.

They also have picnic areas to enjoy and live music on weekends at this Nashville vineyard.

One of the most popular features of this vineyard for those who love sweet wines is the Rosé Frosé.

This is a frozen wine slushy that is the perfect way to taste wine on a hot summer’s day.

Another customer favorite at Arrington winery is their stag’s white and strawberry wine or their riesling and peach wine.

The combination of fresh fruits with classic wines is beyond amazing.

Amber Falls has received international awards for its delicious wine offering.

Visit this stop on the Natchez Trace Wine Trail to experience a private wine tasting while enjoying stunning views of the Tennessee countryside.

You can also appreciate special events such as live music and their annual Cajunfest. 

If you’re interested in a longer stay, you can experience true southern living by renting a cottage in the vineyard!

6. Natchez Hills Winery

109 Mail Rd, Hampshire, TN 

Owners Jim and Karen Odom, bring their passion for old-world style wine to life at Natchez Hills Winery. (They own three unique Natchez Hill locations in the Nashville area.)

Their boutique family vineyard, and original location, are located in the hills of the middle Tennessee wine country.

Although it is located an hour south of Nashville, this location is truly special as it is situated near the Natchez Trace, a historic forest trail extending from Tennessee to Mississippi.

It’s also a stop on the Natchez Trace Wine Trail.

Natchez Hills stands out from the pack with its small-batch wines and traditional winemaking techniques.

You can sample their wine with a tasting at their vineyard, or enjoy a bottle on their patio. 

Next, if you’re looking to sample their wine closer to the city, they also have a tasting bar at the Nashville Farmers’ Market.

They offer basic tastings as well as elevated tasting and pairing experiences, and whether you’re a new wine drinker or a wine connoisseur, the staff will expertly guide you through the tasting.

Their final location is located at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, a historical museum in Davidson County, 10 miles east of Nashville.

This site is over 1000 acres and was once home to the late American president Andrew Jackson. 

Guests can enjoy wine by the glass, wine by the bottle, or wine flights overlooking the Hermitage grounds.

7. Beans Creek Winery

426 Ragsdale Road, Manchester, TN

Open since 2004, Beans Creek Winery is a true product of the Tennessee Community.

It was founded with the help of nine local families and a shared passion for wine. 

This winery is located in Manchester, TN, an hour southeast of Nashville, and offers award-winning wines.

They are locally focused (sourcing Tennessee grapes and fruits for their product), and offer a wide array of wines from a light-bodied Vidal blanc to a wild mountain blackberry wine. 

If you’re interested in local music, they have a summer music series called “The Grape Jam Music Series,” featuring local musicians and bbq!

This event is labeled as family-friendly, so kids are welcome to enjoy the show.

8. Beachaven Vineyards and Winery

1100 Dunlop Ln, Clarksville, TN

Beachaven Vineyards has been providing Tennessee with award-winning wines for over 35 years!

Located an hour northwest of Nashville in Clarksville, TN, this winery offers tastings, flights, and a whole lot of charm.

Experience a tour of the vineyards and winemaking facility for $10 a person (yes, this includes a tasting!).

If you’re focused on the prize, you can enjoy a very reasonable $4 tasting without the tour. 

For family-friendly fun, this winery puts on live music events.

Children are welcome and can enjoy the outdoor picnic area with various snacks.

9. Red Barn Winery and Vineyards

1805 Tanyard Rd, Lafayette, TN

Red Barn Winery is the furthest from central Nashville on this list.

At an hour and 20 minutes northeast of Nashville in Lafayette, TN, this winery sits on the beautiful Macon County highlands.

This family winery includes 100 acres of farmland housing North American and French hybrid grapes.

They offer wines made with Tennessee pride.

Wine ranges from sweet to dry, and the vineyard is also well-known for its fruit-forward dessert wine, O So Peachie.
